On it's way!

I recently received the latest copy of Interweave Knits and in it was an ad for More house Merino with a lovely looking wrap on the front.  I thought, mmmmmm, I think I have to have one of those, so went ahead and ordered one in black.  It's called a Gorgonian Shawl and it's knit with Merino Morehouse 4ply (lace weight).  I like it A LOT, and despite being quite 'over' my Clapotis (more on that later), I decided to go for it nonetheless!

Olivia The Pig

I treated myself to 8 fat quarters of the most divine fabric you have ever seen!  Jemma, my work mate, pointed it out to me (bitch) and that was it!  I bought it off a local fabric store Calico & Ivy and I am not sure what I want to do with it yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out!

Birthday Purchases

I was given vouchers on my birthday (which I love, coz you get the added bonus of the retail therapy).  I bought a nice little cake stand and two medium tagines!  If anyone has any Tagine recipes, let me know!

So Much California Cotton

Whilst in the UK, I stumbled across a small Rowan stockist in Wimborne, Dorset.  They had a few hanks of the long since discontinued Rowan California Cotton, which is one of the nicest, most hard wearing cotton's I have ever knit with.  Anyhow, I had some at home, but was short about 4 hanks.  I told the lady I would take all she had, and she pulled out the 5 she had on the shelf, plus 2 boxes containing 40 more hanks!  My eyes popped out of my head, especially when she agreed to let me have them for a pound a hank (about $2.50AUD).  I took the lot and trust me, ONE DAY, I shall knit some nice little numbers from Rowan pattern books of old!

Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birrrrthhhhday dear Emmmmmmaaaaaaa.....

Ok, you've guessed it, today I turn the ripe old age of 34.  The IV's always do a knitting gift for the birthday girls, and this year I got a Kim Hargreaves Kit (yes, I love 'em).  Her new collection is out and I was lucky enough to receive Bea, in Rowan Wool Cotton (I went for Gypsy).  Now all I have to decide is which of my kits to knit first!  Dontchajustlove KIMMY?!!

Glimmer

Whilst in the UK, I have purchased yet another Kim Hargreaves kit, this one is called Glimmer from her very first Summer collection, and it uses Rowan Summer Tweed.  I got the pale blue version (like the one in the photo) and it's divine.  Can't wait to get started on it.

Glimmer

For anyone considering buying one of these kits, I should just give you some really positive feedback.  Apart from the lovely packaging, and fab deisgn, the technical support from Kim Hargreaves and her team (I have a sneaking suspicion her Mum works with her) was amazing.  I had a query on the Denim Delight pattern that I am knitting at the moment and I called their HO and they got back to me within the hour and sorted my problem...it's always good to know!!

Nice Buy!

Every once in a while, you can go into Spotlight and find a diamond in the rough (it's rare, but nonetheless possible!!).  Today was that day for me.  I wanted some gingham fabric to make Christmas Cards (I will post the completed cards) and spotted some ribbon sets.  6 reels of cute ribbon (4m of each design) in various colour ways, all for $12.95, which works out to about 54 cents a metre, not bad considering its very nice stuff.  I am a happy chappy!

Organising My Embroidery.

I have rediscovered embroidery (I go through phases) and decided to organise my threads.  The wonderful Miss Nicole (always full of bright ideas), has a great system that she bought from Spotlight, so I hot footed it down there to buy all the necessary gubbings!

I also stumbled across a couple of very grubby samplers that I made ooooo, about 15 years ago!!

mmmmm...new fabric!

I recently aquired some new fabrics (mainly in shades of red) and I am keen to start a lovely big quilt in this colourway.  These were from Quilt Home.  I may even spice up my design this time!
