Knitting Abroad

I am in the process of packing for my 2 month UK trip, and I had to choose a few projects that will accompany my suitcase to Blighty.  So, after much deliberation I am taking the following:-

a) My Pinky Dot Pebble Doll Kit - WHY? Because she's fun, pick-up-put-downable, and I must get her finished!

b) My Paisley Summer Tweed Bag - WHY? I want to make a dent in the 54 Paisleys that have to be knit up!

c) My Kim Hargreaves Delight Cardigan (in Rowan Denim) - WHY?  I've had it aggggess, and it's a good meaty project to get stuck into when my small people are being cared for by my family (this only ever happens when we go back to the UK).

d) My Jo Sharp Mohair Singlet, but this one will be in her new Infusion colour, Aniseed, which is black with greyish-white running through it - WHY? coz it's super quick and will look great over a sheer black top for Christmas day!

I'll be posting from the UK when I get over my jet lag, so let's just see how much stuff I finish!

Miss Nicoles Christmas Bundle

I wanted to make something a little different for Miss Nicole this year, so as well as a home made card, I made her a bundle of felt candy canes!  Just cut out red felt with pinking shears, hand sewed, stuffed and embroidered the rest, then tied with a spotty ribbon!

Tea Cup - She Did Finish!

Many, MANY moons ago, the IV girls embarked on a Tea Cup Knit along.  Whilst many of us fell by the wayside, Marge stuggled on like a tropper, despite having preggers brain, followed by baby brain and sleepless nights!  I feel it's my duty to post her completed tea cup on my blog, as I am that proud that she's FINALLY finished and will be able to knit something that she enjoys at last!  Well done Madge!

New Sublime Transfers

Just received new transfers from Sublime Stitching and am very excited.  More stuff to make with them, especially the Christmassy ones! 

Felted Sophie!

Just a quickie to show you the finished Felted Sophie bag that I recently knit up!  Not too sure about the end result (my others were better) but I'm sure if I tart it up with a few crocheted flowers, that might make a difference.

Nearly There....

Here's a brief update on my much frogged Jo Sharp Mohair Singlet.  I picked up and knitted the I-Cord onto the front, rather than sewing them on, as it's much neater.  Only a tiny bit to go and it'll be packed into my luggage to accompany me to the UK next week!

Chicken Pop's

Not only had my computer given up the ghost (she's home now and all better), but my eldest small person contracted that fabulous virus Chicken Pox (or Chicken Pop's as he likes to call it).  As a result, my work life has ground to a halt (a nightmare with less than 10 days before I leave for the UK) and I am having to grasp time in amongst the whining and scratching (and that's just me).  Luckily my parents are over at the moment (I will be travelling back to the UK with them) and I have called upon their services to help out so that I can A) retain some sanity (we cant leave the house whilst he's contagious) and B) get some much needed work done!  Fortunately it's not the most severe case of CP and Luka was vaccinated the same day that Joe was diagnosed, so hopefully he won't get CP, or if he does, it will be less 'severe'.  Here's the little tacker with spots!

IV's Ginger Breads.

I hosted the last IV's knit along, and decided to create some yummies from last months ABC Delicious Magazine.  They are mini ginger breads and were yummy!

Mini Skull & Crossbones Tote

I started and completed this bag in about 4-5 hours, but have only been able to blog about it 'coz my 'puta was poorly sick!  Now I am back online, here is the finished piece.

It's a free pattern (gotta love those) from a website call Hello Yarn and I chose the Skull & Crossbones Tote for my 16 yr old Niece.  I actually think it looks more like a space invader, but it's still cute.  Just enough for a mobile phone, keys, a bit of cash!

I knit it using the Cascade 220 (I seem to have a growing stash) and it felted with just one hot wash in my front loader, with no additions (jeans etc).

I am currently knocking up another bag in the Lorna's Laces Bullfrogs & Butterflies, which I know from experience felts like a dream.  It's in the Black Purl colourway and will be a solid colour bag for my old flat mate in the UK.

Luka's Stocking

When I was a child, my Mum made me a very intricate felt stocking from a kit that we bought when we were in the US.  I have carried on this tradition with my little people, and am in the process of getting one finished for Luka for his first 'aware' Christmas (last year he was only days old).

The kits are just fab, like painting with numbers, but you are stitching instead.  Still got a long way to go with Luka's, but once you get on a roll, they wizz!
