Japanese Books

Miss Nicole is my best buddy, but she also has A LOT to answer for.  Example?  She has got me a tad hooked on these Japanese craft books!  I bought two felt books, and a book for LARGE soft toys (as opposed to the teeny tiny ones) from one ebay seller.  Then I bought denim bag book and a GORGEOUS book for making toys from socks and gloves, all from another ebay seller.  PLUS (yes there's more!) I got two cuddly toy books from I have already spotted several millions on Amazon Japan that I am salivating over!

     

Marshmallow Madness!

Tonight is the last IV knit along prior to Marge popping her second child out (assuming that it's not really late).  I have been promising for AGEEEES to make some marshmallow hearts from the Donna Hay Kids magazine, so last night I whipped up some sugar, glucose and other such stimulants, set a nice big slab of sticky pink stuff overnight, then turned them out this morning and cut into hearts.  I also made a pair of baby feet to celebrate the occasion of Marge's impending birth (which she almost certainly doesn't want to be reminded of).  Now listen, I am no Donna Hay (I dont have a team of stylist making sure my marshmallows are perfect) and I'm certainly no Martha Stewart (although what I would do for her cash and craft time), but I am quite happy wtih my first attempt!

Tiffany's Darling!

My Mum turns 60 today (a fact I'm sure she'd rather I didn't publicise).  It's a big birthday, as far as numbers go, so it warranted a big pressie (or little in this case).  I wanted to send her something impressive (she's in the UK by the way) and something that she could remember.  Soooooo, I was browsing the Tiffany's website (as you do) and picked this beautiful necklace for her.  It's called 'open heart', made in sterling silver and design by Paloma Picasso.  Do you think she'll like it?

The Fruits of my Labour

The projects I took along to our knitting retreat were on the small side, as that's all I really have on the go at the moment (give or take), plus I figured it meant I could chop and change and have something new to do every few hours.  Here's the list:-

  Pinky (albeit a naked Pinky).  She's a Dot Pebble's kit and I've just got to get her dressed!

    I have adapted this Debbie Bliss Tunic to a stripey version without the embroidery, and I am knitting it in Rowan Cotton Glace.  I managed to finish the back on the retreat!

I got this far with yet another cup cake hat, which was a request from my nephew Tom.  He's having a chocolate cupcake.

  I also dabbled with a bit of crochet, using the Debbie Bliss Maya.  You have just got to try this yarn!  It looks particularly stunning in crochet, as the variegated colours are dotted all over, plus the colour palate is just YUMMY!

I think that just about covers all the work I did when we were away.  Not bad in between eating, looking after small person (please note that 'eating' came top of the list) and watching musicals!

Kitty on my Puta!

This little kitty was a gift/swap (a set of 3 pink measuring cups from Wheel & Barrow were the bargaining tool!) with Miss Nicole.  She measures 10cm in height and has a big bit of sticky velcro on her bum (not comfy) that enables her to stare at me from the top of my flat screen monitor!  Ain't she just adorable.

Today my eldest small person, Joseph, was poorly sick (or recovering from being poorly sick) and instead of working, I was looking after his daily entertainment, and in between the building blocks and Thomas the Tank Engine, I managed to squeeze in a bit of embroidery (transfers care of Sublime Stitching) on a Bonds T-Shirt.  This cute little number is for my youngest small person, the divine Mister Luka Palooka!

IV Surprises!

At our IV knitting retreat (the annual gathering of knitting mates) I presented the girls with a bag of goodies....take a look at the array of exciting mini-silly things!

Knitting Retreat!

Such EXCITEMENT!  today is the day that myself and 4 of my best buddies (some might say knitting partners in crime) are off on our annual knitting retreat!  We basically rent an apartment by the sea, knit, eat yummy food, drink wine (and the rest...!) and watch old movies for a WHOLE WEEKEND (friday to sunday).  Are you jealous?  YOU SHOULD BE!!  I shall post the photo's of any knitting debauchery next week!
