LIPS! mmmmmm!

I lurve lip balms.  In fact I love any form of lip treatment.  Positively addicted!  I even have a special jar to keep them all in!  It really is an obsession....but you probably get that by now!  So, thought you might like to be introduced to my newest additions, won on ebay! Horrah!

   

If any of your out there can reccomend a great place to buy unusual lippy, let me know!

Parcel

Here is itty bitty bear adorning the parcel that is flying through the air to get to the UK as we speak.

Cute and a nice touch....let's hope he brings warm fuzzy feelings before the parcel is even opened!

Touch Yarn

A good friend of mine sent me this Mohair & Wool 2ply variegated Touch yarn, which is gorgeous, but have NO IDEA what to knit with it.  Never knit anything as fine as a 2ply which is scary, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

My Itty Bitty Bear!

Ok, so he's cute (in a lopsided way), but blinking nora was he a fiddly little minx to knit!  The pattern said you could rattle out a whole family of bears in an evening!  I don't think so, unless you like knitting with your tongue hanging out (mine always does on smaller pieces), using 2mm double points and negotiating a teeny tiny piece of circular knitting.  He is also smaller than my mind had sized him.  I should have looked at the finished size as mentioned in the pattern to get a feel, but I didn't and he actually is the exact size as the photos in the magazine.  ALL THIS SAID....he will be adorning the parcel of the Moss Stitch Baby Blanket that is being sent to my very expectant counsin tomorrow.  I thought it would make a nice touch to the gift wrapping, and I know Paula will love it.  Got a couple of shot's of both the during and the finished piece (which shows you how small he really is).

 

Finished at last!

This baby blanket for my Cousin was easy peesy to make, but was enjoyable nonetheless, as the yarn was gorgeous to knit with.  I altered a Debbie Bliss pattern, taken from The Cashmere Collection using Cashmerino Superchunky and I simply chose to do it in three colours rather than one.  Sometimes easy, brainless projects are just what the doctor ordered.  It's off to the UK tomorrow, and hopefully will arrive before baby!

 

Fancy a Quickie?

As it's the weekend, and I am 'nearly' at the end of my baby blanket (will post pictures soon), I decided to try out a pattern featured in the new Interweave Knits magazine (which, by the way, is not too inspiring this time).

The are called 'itty bitty bears' and are simply divine!  I thought they would make great new baby gifts, as they would be small enough for tiddly peeps to hold in their hands.  I shall be making one for Mister Luka Jack.  They recommend Lorna's Laces Sheperd Socks which is about an 8ply, give or take, so I shall use some DK out of my vastly expanding stash!

Just had to have it!

I saw this shirt, thought of Luka looking ohsocute in it, so I purchased it immediately!

Although methinks maybe he is not so happy about wearing it after all...........!

knitting - Anne Bartlett

This book was brought to my attention by Miss Nicole, and then I saw it in my local book store and HAD to have it, despite it being a fictional novel and an unknown quantity.  I'm up to page 12 of Knitting and already enjoying it.  It's an Australian author, and I'll give you my rating out of 10 when I finish it! 

Wallace & Gromit Series

Another Ebay find.  Three patterns from the Wallace & Gromit crew.  This time I have Gwendolin, Preston and Feathers McGraw.  Feathers is my fav, but can't THINK when I'll get to knit them all!

Amy Butler Fabric

I am not a real sewer, but I can sew!  I have been most inspired of late by the Amy Butler patterns and fabrics, as has Miss Nicole (who, by the way, is mean-with-the-sewing-machine).  Between us we purchased a heap of Amy's new range from Cabbage Rose Quilting (they are a fab company, really, really top on customer service, so the fabric arrived in no time at all!!).  I am planning to use one of my selection to make another Nappy Bag, but this time for knitting (you can never have enough knitting bags).
