Buster Baby!

Ok, so I get a text message from a good pal in the UK to tell me that she has just popped out a baby boy!  Very exciting (it's her first) and of course, when friends (good ones that is) drop sprogs, you just gotta knock up a cute ensemble for them, coz they love it (still get appreciation from a baby sweater I knit for another UK friend!).

Soooo, I chose a cutie cardi from one of my favourite pattern books Rowan Babies and it's called Buster.  It's created in Rowan Wool Cotton (gee I forgot how yummy this yarn is to knit with) and I am doing it in Cream and Blue.  I love it so much that I am planning to knit one for my little Luka!

Nearly finished the back and only started it on Saturday afternoon (not bad for a woman who has a 6 week old and a 2 1/2 yr old and is sleep deprived).  I hope to pack in some knitting tonight (small person's allowing) so will take some 'progress' shot's as soon as I can.

Flower Bag!

Oooooo I wanna, wanna, wanna knit this little beauty!

Ok, so I haven't ever felted before and it looks high maintenance, but still, this HAS to be on the top of my list of knits to complete before I leave this mortal world!

Maybe the IV's would be interested in making it into a project?  Ladies??

It's taken from the latest Vogue International Knitting Magazine and is designed by the 'embellishment queen', Nicky Epstein. 

I would knit it in Rowan Big Wool (the pattern calls for Tahki Baby)

3 x balls of pistachio (trellis)

5 x balls of black/smoky (background)

3 x balls of bohemian/lucky or whoosh (flowers)

1 x ball of camouflage (petals)

I CANT WAIT!!  This is the first pattern I have got excited about for aggggggggggesssss!!  Horrah 'unt' ballyhoo!

Tea Cup!

This is the IV's next knit along project!  It's scary (knitted on 3 count cotton...arrggghhh) using 1.75mm double points (we are using 2.00mm) but we LOVE a challenge!  It's also very pretty, which is a plus and we are getting the kits sent from Four Seasons Knitting in the US of A, in case anyone wants to try it too! 

Vanila Update

For those of you waiting with baited breath for the next installment of the Vanilla Rowan Summer Tweed sweater, your wait is over!

I completed the back and front, did a 3 needle cast off (oh and short row shaping) of the shoulders, and knit on the neck!  All I have to do now is the sleeves, so watch this space.

Hope to have it complete by the Aussie Autumn which I think would be a good season to wear it in.

Airy Scarf.

I have two girlfriends in the UK who have birthdays within a week of each other.  I am therefore desperately knitting two Airy Scarves from  the book Knitted Gifts, as they 'claim' they can be completed in 2 hours.  I am following the pattern, and have nearly finished one, but it's not nearly as long as they said it should be when complete.  Sooooo I'll have to keep going until I'm happy with it.

I am using Rowan Kidsilk Haze and the colour is called Chill, which is very classic and will go with anything.

Knitting for Luka

When I went into hospital to give birth, I took two sets of yarn.  One lot of pink Debbie Bliss Wool Cotton for a little dress (in case of girly sprog produced) and one lot of cream and blue in Debbie Bliss Cotton DK (in case of boy).  The pattern was taken from the book Baby Bloom, by Erika Knight and it's supposed to be a girly sweater, with lots of embriodered flowers all over it, but for fear of giving Luka a complex, I converted into a much more 'simple' version, with just a tiny bit of contrast detail.

Ok, so it's been a while since I posted, but you can forgive me coz I have just popped out my new small person and then Christmas, New Year, Wool Shack re-opening etc, etc.
